Welcome to Cuwai Labs. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This privacy policy will inform you as to how we look after your personal data when you visit our website and use our applications (such as ShelfKeeper). Cuwai Labs does not and will never sell your personal data.

2. Data We Collect

We collect data strictly to provide core app functionality (cloud syncing, family sharing) and to improve the app experience via internal crash reporting and analytics.

  • Email Address & Name: If you join our waitlist or sign in via Google.
  • Profile Picture: Captured via Google Sign-In (if applicable).
  • Book Library Metadata: Titles, authors, and cover images of the books you scan and save.
  • Anonymous Usage Analytics: General interaction events to help us improve the app.

3. Device Permissions & Local Processing

Camera & Storage: Our applications require camera access to scan barcodes and read text, and storage access to save images like the "Digital Shelfie".

Local Processing: Standard barcode scanning and text recognition occur entirely on your device using Google ML Kit. We do not upload or store live camera feeds on our servers.

Local Data: While cloud backup is available, your library data is primarily stored locally on your device. Cuwai Labs is not responsible for data loss resulting from uninstalling the app or device damage if you have not synced to the cloud.

4. Third-Party Services

We utilize various third-party services and APIs to provide functionality:

  • Supabase: Secure cloud database hosting and user authentication.
  • Google Books & ISBNDB: Public metadata fetch (titles, authors, cover images).
  • Google ML Kit & Cloud OCR: On-device scanning and automated metadata lookup.
  • RevenueCat, Apple App Store, Google Play: Management of in-app subscriptions and purchases.

5. Data Deletion

You have the right to request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time via the Account Settings menu in our applications.
